Festival: A Youth Concert is a worldwide celebration for youth to strengthen their discipleship of Jesus Christ through music.
This prerecorded 60-minute concert features songs from the recent Strive to Be albums and will be available for download beginning Monday, 10 August 2024 (Mountain Daylight Time), in English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese.
Church units with youth who speak other languages may choose to participate if their youth enjoy listening to music in any of the provided languages.
The prerecorded broadcast will be available at broadcasts.ChurchofJesusChrist.org, the Gospel Stream app, and the YouTube Strive to Be channel. It also will be available later in the Youth Music section of Gospel Library.
Stakes are invited to participate globally on Saturday, 10 August, or on another date that accommodates local schedules and needs.
Suggestions for Planning
Leaders are encouraged to involve youth in planning an event where the concert will be shown, adapting the event to their unique circumstances (General Handbook 29.3.10). The following suggestions may be useful:
- Let Youth Lead: Where possible, invite the stake youth council to lead out in planning and carrying out the event.
- Encourage Group Participation: In early July, a playlist of concert songs and promotional materials will be available on youth.ChurchofJesusChrist.org. Youth are encouraged to become familiar with these songs before the event. You might encourage youth to invite friends of other faiths to sing, celebrate, and worship Jesus Christ together with you.
- Consider Size: Consider whether to gather as a stake or with multiple stakes. Larger gatherings may provide the best experience for this event.
- Adapt for Local Needs: The broadcast will be available on 10 August. Local leaders may tailor their plans for the event to fit local circumstances and resources, choosing the date and time that works best for them. For example, the event could include a dance or other activities, food, or an event host.
- Consider Location: Due to the celebratory style of the music and the hope of youth participation, it may work better to meet in an outdoor location or a large gathering place.
