On all upcoming Easter Sundays and Sundays near Christmas, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will attend a single Church service.

Typical Sabbath day worship for Church members includes attending a sacrament meeting one hour and the other hour they attend either Sunday School or classes divided by various quorums and age groups.

In a January 26 letter addressed to general and local leaders, the First Presidency stated: “Each year, Church services and meetings should be limited to sacrament meeting only on Easter Sunday and on a Sunday before or after Christmas Day. If Christmas is not on a Sunday, stake and district presidencies decide whether to hold this sacrament meeting before or after Christmas.”

The letter also states that stake and district presidents may consult with bishops and branch presidents to adjust meeting times for those holidays to best accommodate local needs of Church members.

The letter was signed by Church President Russell M. Nelson, President Dallin H. Oaks, First Counselor, and President Henry B. Eyring, Second Counselor.

All Sunday services of The Church of Jesus Christ are open to the public and anyone is welcome to attend.
