Three Global Christian Leaders Visit Europe

The ministry visit covers the countries of France, Germany, Netherlands, Romania, Spain and Switzerland

From February 22 until March 1, 2026, communities across Europe will welcome three senior leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elder Dale G. Renlund, Elder Gérald Caussé, and Elder S. Mark Palmer, as they meet with congregations, young people, civic partners, and friends of the Church.

The visit is part of the Church’s longstanding effort to encourage faith, strengthen families, and support local communities. These leaders travel worldwide much like early Christian apostles did - to listen, to uplift, and to learn from the people they meet.

Elder Renlund, a hearttransplant specialist by training and one of the Church’s twelve Apostles, will meet with communities in Romania, Germany, and the Netherlands. Beginning in Bucharest, he will preside over a special district conference and a devotional dedicated to women in the area. He will also meet with missionaries serving in Romania and later travel to Germany to connect with both the Frankfurt Mission and a multi-language missionary gathering. His visit will conclude in the Netherlands at a special stake conference in Apeldoorn.

Elder Renlund often emphasizes that Church service is fundamentally about loving God and loving people. As he has taught, every person is “a beloved son or daughter of heavenly parents.” His visit offers guests and members an opportunity to hear messages centered on hope, purpose, and following Jesus Christ in daily life.

For Elder Caussé, recently called as an Apostle, this visit is something of a homecoming. Born in Bordeaux, France, he will travel from Versailles to Marseille, connecting with congregations and community members.

His time in France will highlight both long-standing and newly formed congregations, honoring pioneers and new members who contribute to the country’s growing Latter-day Saint community—a legacy that began with the arrival of the first missionaries in 1849 and continues today with the temple in Le Chesnay, dedicated in 2017. Elder Caussé’s messages often focus on gratitude, unity, and joyful Christian living, themes that resonate widely with members and friends alike.

Elder Palmer, a global Christian leader originally from New Zealand and a member of the Presidency of the Seventy, will meet communities in Spain, Germany, France, and Switzerland. He will be joined by his wife, Sister Jacqueline Palmer.

Their visit places special emphasis on supporting and inspiring young adults. In Barcelona and Hamburg, Elder Palmer will speak at devotionals for young people aged 18–35, encouraging them to make choices rooted in faith, kindness, and long-term purpose. He will also meet with congregations and friends of the Church at larger conferences in Barcelona and Zurich, in addition to engaging with missionaries serving in Spain and Germany.

Elder Palmer is known for his warmth and ability to connect with young adults. He frequently encourages them to make choices rooted in faith, kindness, and long-term purpose. As he has said, “Nothing in your life will taste sweeter than the love of God and living a life of discipleship and Christlike service.”

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints includes more than 500,000 members across Europe, along with many friends who participate in community events, humanitarian projects, and faith-centered gatherings. Visits from global Church leaders offer opportunities to strengthen congregations, build relationships with local partners, and share messages that speak to people of all backgrounds. Whether someone is a longtime member, a new friend of the Church, or simply curious, these events welcome all who seek uplifting perspectives and a sense of connection.
