Years before the temple site was chosen, the way was being prepared for the fulfillment of the words of an apostle when he made a promise that had seemed impossible to fulfill. The purchase of the land on which the Madrid Temple was built is one of many miracles that often accompany the construction of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
On March 19, 1999, then-President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gordon B. Hinckley, dedicated the Madrid Temple. March 2024 marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of its dedication.
