On September 25, members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Romania gathered at the Panduri Chapel in Bucharest to celebrate the building's 20th anniversary and participate in special community open house events.

The event was attended by government representatives, religious leaders, charitable organizations, and community partners who have worked alongside the Church over the years. Guests were invited to tour the chapel, learn about the Church's beliefs and humanitarian efforts, and meet members of the local congregation.

A Place of Worship and Community

For two decades, the Panduri Chapel has served as a place of worship, learning, and gathering for Latter-day Saints in Bucharest. In addition to weekly worship services, the building has hosted family events, youth activities, community gatherings, and charitable initiatives that have brought people together and fostered meaningful relationships.

As they toured the chapel, visitors learned that the Church focuses on following Jesus Christ through faith, family life, service, and community involvement. Members shared personal experiences and answered questions about their beliefs and practices.

The anniversary celebration also provided an opportunity to reflect on the many relationships built over the years with organizations and individuals dedicated to improving the lives of others.

Friends and Partners Come Together

Among those in attendance were representatives of the Romanian Government, the Bucharest Municipality, various religious communities, and numerous nonprofit organizations serving vulnerable populations throughout the country.

Guests included Ciprian Vasile Olinici, State Secretary for Religious Affairs; Claudiu Octavian Ceti and Adrian Durlea, representing Bucharest Sector 5 City Hall alongside representatives of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), Save the Children Romania, the Association for Dialogue and Universal Values, the Everything Is Possible Association, Ronald McDonald House Romania, the Social Innovations Foundation, Habitat for Humanity Romania, Jesuit Refugee Service, and Motivation Romania.

Leaders and guests viewed presentations highlighting local and international service efforts made possible through cooperation between the Church and its community partners. These initiatives included assistance for families in need, refugee support, programs for people with disabilities, healthcare projects, and educational opportunities.

Building Understanding Through Dialogue

The event’s interfaith dimension brought together representatives of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the Assemblies of God, the “Jesus the Savior” Baptist Church, the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Romania, the Confessional Lutheran Church, the New Apostolic Church, the Reformed Church – Diocese of Transylvania, the Hungarian Unitarian Church, the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Romania, the Kagyu Buddhist Association of Romania, and the Muftiate of the Muslim Community of Romania.

Through discussions and shared experiences, participants explored ways in which religious communities can work together to strengthen society, support families, and respond to humanitarian needs.

Many guests emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for dialogue and cooperation. The gathering demonstrated how relationships built on mutual respect can contribute to greater understanding among people from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds.

Looking to the Future

At the close of the evening, guests and members reflected not only on the history of the Panduri Chapel but also on the friendships and partnerships that continue to grow from it.

For twenty years, the chapel has been a gathering place for worship and community. The anniversary celebration highlighted a simple yet enduring truth: when people of goodwill come together in service, respect, and faith, lasting relationships are built and lives are blessed.

The first twenty years of the Panduri Chapel tell a story of faith and fellowship. Looking to the future, the Church reaffirms its commitment to serve communities, working alongside individuals and organizations in following the example of Jesus Christ.
